About

I was born in Ogden, Utah, on July 12th, 1986. When I was five years old, my family relocated to sunny La Quinta, California, a suburb of Palm Springs, where I have called home since.

I graduated high scool in 2004 with a 3.75 GPA and a scholarship nomination by Senator Jim Battin. I was also awarded 500 dollars to college through my school for the integrity and passion I have in writing.

My decision to major in journalism came about in the late summer of 2007. Since the spring of 2005, I have attended College of the Desert in Palm Desert, California, and for the better part of two years years, I had no idea what my calling was. I was originally weighing the pros and cons of majoring in theatre, but I did not carry the passion like a lot of my friends did. I somehow knew it wasn't for me because I always knew I wanted to write, but even writing began to frustrate me because I couldn't for the life of me picture putting out a novel. That was when the lightbulb switched on.

My first journalistic-style interview came about in November of 2007 with British, Emmy-nominated actor, Hugh Dancy, for whom I run a website for. I had previously met Dancy that March, so the idea of speaking to him wasn't extremely daunting, though I was anxious on how I was going to pull it off. As it turned out, I had nothing to be nervous about. The interview went smoothly, quickly, and turned out better than I expected it to. Sure, the idea of being interviewed may have been old hat to him, but it was a rush of energy for me. I was interviewing someone I admired, they were answering back, and we were essentially having a conversation.

From that point on, I knew I was extremely capable of becoming a journalist and being able to write for a living. I joined the school newspaper, The Chaparral, in the spring of 2008, serving as co-entertainment and online editor. My role as an entertainment editor involved interviewing, designing the pages, reviewing films, pitching original stories and/or writing them myself, proof reading and editing, post-processing photos, and going out on the field to take pictures. The long and short of it: I had a blast.

This March, I had the opportunity to intern at the Kraft Nabisco Championship in Rancho Mirage, California. I was chosen from my journalism class and was able to work in the press division through Hahn Communications. The experience was eye-opening as I was able to personally speak to head writers of the New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Miami Herald, and other publications. There were press divisions from all over the world and everyone was kind, gracious, and patient toward me, which taught me many valuable lessons on the ethics of how to treat other people.

I also have extensive knowledge in web and graphic design through five-plus years experience. I currently run three websites, which can be viewed by clicking here. I also have experience in photography and enjoy shooting concerts and media events.
